Our It's Doctor Actually Graduation Celebration

Our It's Doctor Actually Graduation Celebration

I wanted to make a super easy tablescape for my stepdaughter’s college graduation. She just finished up studying at Veterinary College had moved back to the UK and was about to embark on a veterinary career in the equine world. Her favourite colour is pink so I went from there!

I started with our luxury standard size Pink Gingham Paper Placemats as a basis for my tablescape. What I love about our paper placemats is that they are durable enough to reuse multiple times and are also completely recyclable making them perfect for either a seasonal update or a really easy DIY elevated tablescape for any celebration.

Black is really striking with pink. So I set out to work on the Its Doctor Actually Banner in matt black to coordinate. I knew she’d appreciate the joke!

I also made some black paper horseshoes to hang from a string with pretty pink ribbon bows to elevate the room and I designed some simple and super impactful posters to put in my frames.

We’d been busy that month so I knew cooking a meal big wasn’t on the cards. So a Chinese take away at home was the next best thing! My love language is baking so I absolutely had to make a what we call in our house a really big cake! I made this lemon cake from King Arthur Baking. Instead of making it as a bundt in one tin I made two sponges and made a lemon cream cheese frosting to sandwich them together instead of the glaze. Delicious and a nice fresh finish to our main meal.
