How to set a Table for Halloween

How to set an Easy and Elegant Halloween Table

You know, it doesn’t have to be complicated, and you don’t need to buy a whole pile of new things. I’m a firm believer in using what you’ve already got and adding in small touches of fun and whimsy to bring a theme together.

Charity shops usually have a seasonal themed display these days and it’s a really fantastic way of adding something in that’s interesting and different and it also keeps the environment in mind. I’ve found some amazing things for a few pounds and when I’m done with it I donate it back.

My other favourite hack is adding in seasonal artwork to freshen up the whole space and bring some seasonal charm. I love our prints that we have for Autumn. A meandering river and a partridge. Which of course could be used for the other season (that we won't mention) that is rapidly approaching! Download any 2 Art Prints for £5 and freshen up your own room in a matter of minutes.

Flowers are also easy and affordable and can be the one thing that ties everything together. Super easy to pick up at the supermarket when you’re already there.

But this is also paper décor’s opportunity to stand forward for its moment to shine 😊 There is minimal storage, it’s not expensive and its recyclable. I only use FSC Certified paper which means its paper made from sustainably managed forests.

Orange, Black and White Halloween Table

My daughters absolutely love Halloween so I really wanted to make a nice table for them (and me!) for the season. I thought the start of the half term was the perfect time to put it together.

I wanted something elegant, and I didn’t want anything too over the top. And most of all I wanted it to be simple and easy to put together. Orange, Black and White are classic Halloween colours that are definitely timeless but can still look fresh.

Halloween Table Setting

I started with a charcoal almost black cotton and linen ruffled table runner that I already had. An amazing little bargain that I picked up on sale from George at Asda aaaaaaages ago. I layered that with my Small Orange Gingham Placemats and my Black and White Stripe Table Runner.

I added in some pumpkin plates and black cups that were an easy add to basket from the centre aisle of my local Aldi, I think they were less than 90p each for packs of 8. The rechargeable micro table lamp was also a no brainer, which I think was only 7.99 and for this kind of product is an amazing price. It’s also where I got my flowers; one orange ,burgundy, red bouquet for 5.99 and an on-sale pack of red roses for 1.99.

Halloween Table Flower Arrangement

I love doing small posies that fit in jam jars. I feel like there’s always a jam jar knocking around in people’s homes! They’re charming but they are also the perfect height for the table as there’s no bending around displays to see the person on the other side! I chose colours that reflect the changing Autumn leaves and coordinated beautifully with the black/white/orange colour scheme. I added in some twigs from the garden to evoke the emptying branches of the season.

I also added in some pumpkin napkins that I had picked up in Primark 1.50 for 24. The black bats I discovered at the bottom of our Halloween decorations box!

Halloween Ghost Table Decorations

But my absolute favourite of the table is my Vintage style Ghost LED Candle Lanterns. They’re soooo cute and I love their vintage colouring and vibes with the lantern. They bring so much fun to the table for something so small! And are proof that it’s ok to have a little whimsy at your table to get the conversation going. I absolutely loved designing these, they really do make me smile.

Hope you’re enjoying nature’s show off season and have been ringing in the changes in your own way in your own home – ‘cos there’s nothing like coming home.

Niamh xx.
