How to Host an Ice Cream Party

How to Host an Ice Cream Party

How to Host an Ice Cream Party .... With our Ice Cream Party Tablescape Bundle

My daughter asked for an Ice Cream birthday party, so I got to work designing an Ice Cream Party Bundle decorations and décor around our Large Blue Gingham Placemats because blue is her favourite colour!

I started with designing Ice Cream Cone Wraps for our wafer ice cream cones. You know the ones that are the cheapest ones in the supermarket! I don't know about you but my girls get on with these much better than the waffle cones, which have shattered and broken hearts too many times to count! Aren't they adorable?!

I wanted to offer ice cream bowl options as well so I made paper bow accents to simply stick on to small bowls that we already had. These could also be used for placenames, table confetti, attach to a simple party favour bag for people to take home, stick them to ribbon or string to make another bunting ... there's so many options for these. I love how versatile they are so that you can customize your own party look.

I love the straw flags that I've seen and wanted to have some of these too. They're also perfect to attach to cocktail sticks and use as a cupcake topper. These flags and the gingham bows are exclusive to the party bundle in my shop.

And how beautiful are the Crowns?! Bringing in that lovely scalloped edging and coordinating or contrasting the colours with our gingham colours and finished off with our signature Biodegradable Ribbon for a real luxurious touch. I just loved how vintage style and pretty these turned out.

My signature move is having coordinating Art Prints to our theme in our kitchen/diner. It's such an incredibly easy way to pull a whole theme together and elevates the party space in a way that's elegant and cohesive. It’s so much cheaper and easier than a party backdrop and more sustainable too. These are the A4 size in my room. I've included a smaller more convenient size in the party bundle. You can easily stick them up on the wall or grab a small frame and add them to the party table itself which would be really fab.

The Ice Cream Cone and Ice-Lolly Accents are so darling. I stuck these to some wooden dowls for the girls to wave them around and they’re super for photo props. They’d also work really well as placenames or confetti to add another lovely layer to your tablescape.

Finally hanging some bunting for a party is no brainer! It brings the classic festive cheer like nothing else. Blue of course to coordinate with the paper placemats. Some of my other finishing touches were dyed baby’s breath flowers in a vase with a cream satin wire edged ribbon tied in a bow. And while balloons are not my forte there was no way I would have gotten away without some hanging up so I found a tutorial on YouTube and tried my hand at doing a cloud. The girls loved it so that was good enough for me!

What to serve at an Ice Cream Party

I got all of my food supplies from ALDI because our local one is fantastic. We went with the Specially Selected Vanilla tub, Salted Caramel (my personal fav!) and also added in a Chocolate brownie one. I left these in their tubs and put them in a classic enamel cake tin loaded with large ice cubes. It looked great and more importantly it worked really well! I left the scoop in some hot water so everyone could get stuck in and help themselves.

Our sprinkles were white and dark chocolate chips and the classic multi coloured sprinkles.  I used classic glass pinch bows for these and added in some little bamboo servers. Strange to say but they elevated the sprinkle experience and made something so routine and simple feel really luxe!!! I stacked the bowls up on Acrylic risers for visual appeal.

Finally I added in three flavoured sauces Chocolate, Strawberry and Toffee (its surprisingly good!). Our Paper Placemats were perfect for catching all the drips and spills and I popped them into the recycle bin afterwards. I added in some savoury treat cones as well for some sweet and savoury balance!

And we always have our party announcement on our board letter board! I’ve got these products and more on my curated Ice Cream Party list on my Amazon store front.

Ice Cream Party Games & Activities

Finally to keep everyone entertained I made a Build your Own Ice Cream Activity Sheet to colour in, cut out and glue down. And an Ice Cream Cone Bag Toss Game, which went down a real treat! I blew up the Ice Cream graphic from our poster and glued it to a cardboard box and carefully cut out a hole. Then I made some rice bags with an old pillowcase that I had picked up in the charity shop because it had a cute pattern and used some old rice that was hiding at the back of the pantry! I cut longer strips and folded them over, sewing all most all the way around before using a small funnel to pour the rice in before sewing closed.

I hope this has inspired you to try hosting your own ice cream party. You don’t even need an excuse by the way -  a cute set up on the side counter during the summer holidays or as an easy breezy help yourself summer desert bar. You’d be surprised the impact just a small detail or touch can have. My girls are always asking for the Ice Cream Cone Wraps! So I keep a stack of these handy beside our cones.
